4 AI Tools To Help You Land a New Job

The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has created a lot of controversy from privacy concerns to fear of job loss. While there are risks, there are also many benefits including increased productivity and efficiency. Innovation and efficiency excite me, so I’ve explored some of the AI tools for job seekers, so you don’t have to! Here are my favorites:

Resume Building with ChatGPT

ChatGPT has a free version and is great for brainstorming and refining writing. Ultimately, the power of ChatGPT is amazing if you know what prompts to use or are open to experimenting with different prompts. The information is often pretty generic, but it’s a great starting point. If you need more intricate information, Google can help you fill in the details. Check out Teal’s guide for using ChatGPT to help with writing a resume.

Resume Generation with Wonsulting

There are a number of resume AI sites. While Teal and Ramped have received a good deal of attention on LinkedIn, my favorite is Wonsulting’s resumAI due to its user-friendly interface with an intuitive tutorial. The easy-to-use “Generate Bullet Point” feature allows you to add refined bullet points complete with metrics.

Friendly Tip: Remember the metrics are examples, make sure you’re adding truthful information

Interview Preparation with Prepper by Adzuna

Prepper is your job interview prep buddy. While ChatGPT can also be used to help with interview prep (check out this guide from The Muse), Prepper is designed solely for interview prep and easy to use. Add the job title and description and Pepper will generate a list of easy or hard questions. And if you’re looking for a little entertainment to break up the job search monotony, you can generate pirate-themed questions.

Reminder: Practice responding to the interview questions out loud to help you rock your interview

Resume Keyword Optimization with ResyMatch.io by Cultivated Culture

There are a number of tools that help you optimize your resume based on job description keywords but I am partial to ResyMatch. They allow you to upload your resume or paste text and provide an analysis. You’ll get feedback on your resume including a checklist, skills gaps, and recommendations.

Pro Tip:

In the resume scanner, select “Job Description Scanner” next to “Scan Type.” Pull job responsibilities from 10-20 job descriptions for your target role and add them to the text box. You’ll get a list of the most frequently required skills, which will allow you to customize your resume!

AI Considerations

AI, as powerful as it is, operates by analyzing vast amounts of data, learning patterns, and making predictions. While this can lead to incredibly useful applications, such as personalized recommendations and efficient problem-solving, it also raises concerns about data privacy. Sharing sensitive information online, even in interactions with AI, can potentially expose individuals to various risks, including identity theft, unauthorized access, and data breaches.

To mitigate these risks, it's important to adopt a cautious approach when interacting with AI and other digital platforms. Here are some guidelines to consider:

  • Selective Data Sharing - Avoid sharing personal identification numbers, financial details, passwords, or any information that could be exploited.

  • Use Trusted Sources - Opt for AI platforms from reputable sources with robust privacy policies. Prioritize platforms that exhibit a commitment to user data protection.

  • Limit Personal Information - Avoid sharing unnecessary personal details.

  • Anonymization - Consider using anonymized data or pseudonyms when interacting with AI. This adds an extra layer of protection to your personal identity.

  • Secure Connections - Use secure and encrypted connections. Look for "https" in the website's URL and check for security certificates.

  • Update Devices & Software: Keep your devices and software updated to the latest versions to safeguard vulnerabilities

  • Stay Informed - Be aware of online threats and best practices for cybersecurity to avoid potential dangers.

  • Monitor Your Data - Review your online accounts and monitor your personal data for any suspicious activity.

In Summary

AI continues to revolutionize our world. It can be overwhelming trying to navigate the various tools and best practices, especially for job seekers already trying to navigate their career search. However, taking a few precautions can allow those looking for their next opportunity to tap into the advantages of AI, saving them time and helping them stand out from the crowd.
